Meet the founders of the Carnes legacy. Located in the beautiful town of Willow Creek, the Carnes are trying to carve out their place in the world and make a difference and all of that crap. I'm going to apologize in advance for the crappy graphics at the beginning. The default setting is on low and I took a few pictures before realizing that and bumping everything up to high. I forgot to take proper introduction pics of my sims so I apologize for that as well. Also, I'm trying to edit the graphics as best I can but I'm used to Sims 3 and everything is so dark in Sims 4! I'm not wanting to download any mods and CC for right now, so I apologize for the dark pictures.
This is Nikki Carnes, and she is Family Oriented, a Bookworm, Creative and a Quick Learner. Her current aspiration is to be a Renaissance Sim (you can, apparently, change the aspiration at any time). As you can see, she loves painting and will hopefully one day be good enough to decorate the house with her work.
And this is Nikki's husband, Nathan. I totally didn't mean to make both their names start with 'N' oops lol. But anyways, he's Childish, Self-Assured, a Bookworm and a Muser and his current aspiration is to be a Bestselling Author. Obviously I really don't follow the official legacy rules very closely as I pretty much always create a married couple to start out with.
There, now the graphics are much better. Nikki approves!
They don't have much but they do have each other and that's all that matters, right? Or some such sappiness.
Nathan: Hey, so, I know it’s not the steadiest of jobs, but I kinda want to get a job as an author. What do you think?
Nikki: Sure, go for it!
Nathan: Really? You don’t mind?
Nikki: No, of course not. You’ll make enough for us to live off of, I’m confident of that.
So he joined the Author career, which works nicely with his aspiration.

I got them a fish! Meet Zarqa the guppy.
Nikki: Hmm, which book should I read next?
Enjoying a nice, boring breakfast of cereal before Nathan leaves for work.
Nikki: Next time I’ll cook us something okay?
Nathan: Sounds good to me!
Nikki: My husband's gone and I'm all alone now :( *sniffsniff*
So she spent the day painting to try to take her mind off of the empty house. Plus, paintings = money and every little bit helps!
She definitely needs a lot of practice before her paintings are worth enough to be a decent alternative income.
Their tiny little house. Willow Creek is so pretty and the Carnes' neighbourhood is gorgeous. I'm really loving the graphics of this game (even if they are dark).
It's a beautiful day so Nikki carried her book outside to read. This girl, if she's not painting than she has her nose buried in a book.
Several promising looking rocks popped up in the Carnes’ yard so when she finished her book, Nikki sat down to see if she could get anything valuable out of them. I forget what all she got, but I know she found one of those MySims or whatever dolls and some kind of gem.
Here's the doll. The Carnes finally had enough money saved up to support kids so when Nathan came home from work they decided it was time to start trying. They also had enough money to buy a cheap POS computer, as you can see here, which will help Nathan write his books.
Hopefully Generation 2 will be on its way soon!
Working on his first book!
Nathan: Everyone's going to love it and it will be a best seller, I just know it!
Yeah you don't aim high or anything, do you?
Nathan found a harvest-able plant (I forget what, snapdragon maybe? Some sort of flower) so he harvested it and then planted the seeds in the yard. Maybe sometime soon I'll have one of them start a proper garden.
Nathan: Oh gosh I hope I'm doing this right. If I can't keep a plant alive how am I supposed to be a father?
This man was jogging past so, wanting to meet the neighbours, Nathan called him over.
Nathan: Hi, my name's Nathan Carnes, my wife and I just moved to the neighbourhood.
Old Man: I'd love to stay and talk but I really need to finish my jog. Can't break stride if I want to stay in shape!
Nathan: Oh, okay, sorry, wasn't trying to disturb you...
Old Man: Bye!

Feeling a little off and wondering why she starting gaining weight, Nikki took a pregnancy test and found out that she was indeed pregnant!
Nikki: Oh my god, I'm going to have a baby, what if I'm not ready for this?! What if I'm not cut out to be a mom?
Excitement soon took the place of her anxiety, though.
Nikki: I'm going to be a mom! This is the best thing ever!
Her baby bump is growing by the day! I love that they no longer pop into pregnancy and don't need special maternity clothes but instead gradually develop a bump and get bigger (their boobs also get bigger). They also have trimesters too. Love the realism!
Chess is srs bsns, even when you're playing against yourself.
He finished his first book and self published it! He doesn't get very much in terms of royalties but everyone's gotta start somewhere, right?
Nathan: I'm a published author! A dream come true!
Poor thing, it's so exhausting incubating a baby.
Making dinner for herself and her husband.
Nathan: Dinner is yummy, thanks for cooking honey!
Nikki: I'm glad you like it.
Nathan: Hi there little baby! I can't wait to meet you, you're going to be so spoiled, yes you are.
Nathan: I love you
Nikki: I love you too.
Gotta keep the romance alive! Especially after the kids start coming (lol @ Nikki's face).
Selfie time! Though again, Nikki, what is with that face you're making? Not that Nathan's face is much better...
She's nearing the end of her third trimester and the baby could arrive any day now.
Nathan: The baby should be here any day, right?
Nikki: Yes that's right.
Nathan: Do you know when? Like, do you have some sort of sixth sense or something that lets you know when the baby is coming?
Nikki: Apart from labour and contractions? No, you're just going to have to be patient.
Sims are so weird. She went to the bathroom, then got a glass of milk from the fridge, and then decided to drink the milk while she peed again, despite the fact that she had JUST gone and didn't need a bathroom at all. So speshul.
Baby time! I think this face perfectly sums up Nikki's feelings about labour. For the first hour of labour she just stood around looking like this and it made me laugh.
Nikki: I don't like this :(
Baby! Meet Natalie Carnes. And again, totally wasn't trying to stick with the "N" theme, the name Natalie just popped into my head when she was born. The fact that all my sims in this family at the moment all have names that start with an 'N' is totally unintentional!
Mommy's little girl. There are so many more interactions that parents can perform with their child. Mothers can breastfeed, for one, and there are so many more social options. And of course, no more larva babies.
This is Nikki's attempt at realism. Yeahhhh she has a LONG way to go, that's all I'm sayin'
Nikki: Aw, what is it Princess? Are you hungry?
Nikki is loving being a mom.
Look! No more weird green milk! Yay!!
Catching some dinner, maybe?
Nathan: Oh wow, I actually caught one!
Ugh, Nathan, why???
Yeah that's right, you'd better fix this.
Nikki: Nathan! I made your favourite! Chocolate chip cookies!
Nathan: Be there in a minute, I'm cuddling my baby.
Chocolate chip cookies make Nikki happy.
So apparently I forgot to take a better picture of it, but Natalie had her birthday (my game crashed after I decorated her room so I had to re-do it and it's a little different than it is in this picture. My game has so far only crashed twice, and both on the day I got it, so it crashing hasn't been a huge deal so far). It's kind of weird having them go straight from baby to child with no toddler stage in the middle, but it's not bothering me too much as toddlers are annoying (even in sims I don't like screaming, needy babies). Anyways, Natalie's cheerful and her childhood ambition is to be a Rambunctious Scamp. Looks like life could get interesting for Nikki and Nathan. Kind of said that (unless I'm missing something) you can't randomize traits like you can in Sims 3. I like randomizing traits, especially in legacies, since it keeps me from sticking with the same ones and makes things more interesting.
Aww, a little mother-daughter bonding going on.
I think that's the first decent painting Nikki's done. Nathan's over there in the background hard at work on his next novel.
Nikki: Hey honey, how was school?
Natalie: It was horrible! I got my food and was walking to go sit with my friends when this jerk stuck his foot out and tripped me.
Nikki: Aw, honey, I'm sorry.
Natalie: And then I fell and spilled my food all over the floor in front of everyone and the whole school started laughing at me.
I'm sorry for the white outline on Nikki, it's what happens when the mouse hovers over anything click-able and I didn't think it would show up when I took a picture -_- I'm tempted to try to download a mod to just get rid of it as it's kind of annoying, but I'm still wanting to keep my game CC/mod free for now as I'm loving how well it's running and don't want to risk adding anything that might slow it down or make it laggy.
Nikki: Oh gosh, that's horrible! I'm so sorry.
Natalie: I'm never going to be able to show my face in school again.
Nikki: Oh honey, it'll be okay. The other kids will forget about it.
Natalie: I didn't do anything to him. Why are people so mean?
Nikki: Some people are just jerks honey. You can't let him get to you. Now go do your homework!
Natalie: Are you sure I can't skip-
Nikki: Nope. Now, go.
Natalie: Okay...
Poor baby, she was so embarrassed too. Evil little brats >.<
It's about time Natalie has a little brother or sister.
A little bit later Nikki started to feel...off again so she sat down to take a pregnancy test...
Baby number 2 is on its way!
Nikki: So, I have some good news!
Nathan: Oh yeah?
Nikki: Now, don't freak out or anything.
Nathan: ...okay...*is suspicious*
Nikki: I'm pregnant!
Nathan: Congrats!
Haha ignore the floating plate, apparently I zoomed in a little too closely and the table faded out. Whoops!
Lol, more cookies (as well as a growing baby bump).
She was sick of being cooped up inside so Nikki decided to head out to the local nightclub.
Nikki: Fresh air! Sunlight! This is awesome!
Nikki: Hey, can I get a juice on the rocks, please?
Bartender: Sure thing.
Yeah we'll just ignore the fact that you're PREGNANT and shouldn't be drinking...
Random girl: Better be careful, the last drink I had here was NASTY.
Nikki: Oh really? Was she the bartender.
Random girl: Yup.
Random girl: I think she used like, expired ingredients or something because it was the nastiest thing I had ever tasted.
Nikki: Eww! This one had better be good!
Bartender: It wasn't my fault, I had only just started my shift and nobody told me the juice was bad.
Random girl: So what brings you here?
Nikki: Just needed to get out of the house and away from my husband and kid, you know?
Random girl: Oh yeah, kids make you crazy sometimes!
Nikki: So crazy!
She finished her drink and wandered around the bar when she found the piano and dance floor. She sat down to the piano and tried to play the piano, much to the chagrin of all the other customers, I'm sure.
Natalie was due home from school soon so Nikki headed back home. I kind of miss the open world of Sims 3, but at the same time, I feel like it was that open world that made everything so laggy so I'm not really complaining. The loading screen is really fast, much faster than the one in Sims 2 is. And of course I'm not about to give up Sims 3 so I guess I can have the best of both worlds.
Nikki got home in time to make dinner. Natalie apparently came home from school in quite the mood.
Nikki: Um, so, how was school sweetie?
Natalie: Ugh Mom, just leave me alone!
Nikki: Okay...
Nikki: Do you want to talk about it?
Natalie: NO!
Nikki: Okay. Well, I'm here if you want to talk.
Nathan: Fear not, fair maiden, for I will come to your rescue!
Gotta love childish sims -_-
She's finally getting good! Good enough to hang some art up on their otherwise bare walls.
When he finally got bored of playing with his daughter's toys, Nathan decided he'd get out of the house for a little bit.
Nathan: Let's see, where do I want to go?
He decided on a trip to the gym.
Nathan: Piece of cake!
I don't know where those glasses came from.
Nathan: Ugh maybe not...
Random lady: Don't you even THINK about talking to me, mister!
Nathan: Woah, chill, I wasn't going to!
Pregnancy hormones and Mean sims don't mix.
And now for a run on the treadmill. You are gonna be SO sore tomorrow, Nathan, just sayin'. Also apparently the gym is the hangout for pregnant women.
Not ready to go home after his workout, Nathan headed to the bar.
Bella Goth came in and they struck up a conversation.
Nathan: I'm an author! Published and everything! You may have heard of me?
Bella: Ugh I think I need another drink
It was getting dark and Nathan has to go to work in the morning so he decided to head home, feeling quite good about himself.
Okay, I'm afraid that this post is getting too long so I'll go ahead and end it now. Next time brings babies and birthdays! Thanks for reading! Sorry if the graphics are crap, they're fine on my computer but it seems that blogspot is ruining the quality. I hate photobucket and dealing with them but I may have to in order to keep the image quality decent.
