The Carnes Legacy: The Carnes 1.1

Last post we met Nathan and Nikki Carnes as they moved into a tiny house in Willow Creek and settled down into their new lives. Their first child, a little girl named Natalie, was born, and when we left them Nikki was pregnant once again.

Nikki continues to work on her paintings to try to bring in some extra money. Though some of the things she paints are....interesting to say the least. I don't remember if I mentioned it in my last update but I changed her aspiration from Renaissance Sim to Painter Extraordinaire since the former required her to go to work and I don't want her to work.

Natalie: Hey dad, so, I have something to say to you.

Nathan: What's up sweetheart?

Natalie: I kind of got expelled from school...

Nathan: YOU WHAT?!

Natalie: Hahahaha gotcha!

Nathan: Why you little-

Natalie: hahaha you should have seen your face!

Nathan: You are such a little brat!

Nathan: But I love you!

Natalie: I love you too Daddy!

Nathan: Everything's really okay though, right? You're doing alright in school?

Natalie: Yeah Dad, school's fine. Although, if I could just not go to school things would be even better...

Nathan: Not a chance!

Natalie: It was worth a shot.

Nikki: What are these toys doing here?

Nathan: I don't wanna go to work :(

Poor thing is so ready to not be pregnant anymore.

Lol, gotta love sims. They randomly just drop down and start doing push ups in the middle of the sidewalk.

Working out in the garden, trying desperately to keep this plant alive. You can't tell here but she was whistling as she worked.

Goddamn sink! Every time I turn around someone has broken something. Geez guys, take care of your freaking stuff!

Nathan: Between all of these work deadlines and book deadlines and dealing with clients, I think I'm going to go crazy! I've got such a headache, owww.

Poor guy's so tense, he could really use a vacation. He has some PTO accrued, maybe I'll have him take a couple of days off sometime. But fortunately, it's Friday so he has the weekend to recover and de-stress.

Dinner, a movie and a good book helps with stress!

It's a girl!

She freaking had twins, shoot me now. Why Nikki, why?! Anyways, she had two baby girls, Nicole and Nadine (don't ask me which is which though because I've got no freaking idea). Again with the N names, which is really funny because it still wasn't planned. Nicole was next on the list of names I wanted to use, and then when Nadine was born I needed another name that would go well with Nicole. Apparently this generation is going to be all Ns, maybe I could turn that into a theme. As you can see, I gave the twins a (very girly) nursery.

Natalie got a violin, and if her face is any indication, she's not very good. In fact, she's only allowed to practice in her room with the door shut or outside away from everyone else since her "playing" gives everyone headaches.

Since her parents are busy with the twins, they sent Natalie to the park to get some fresh air and to stay out of everyone's way.

Natalie: Ahoy thar!

Mortimer Goth came over to play with Natalie, much to her delight.

When she was tired of playing on the pirate ship, she headed over to the monkey bars.

As you can see, she's having a blast at the park.

Natalie: I don't know, this is awfully high...

She's popular with the boys. Maybe one of these will be a future spouse?

She and this kid (who's name I forget) played and talked and hung out until the sun started to set. I have no idea what Bella Goth is doing in the background o.O Clearly someone is not all there if you know what I mean.

It's getting late so it's time for Natalie to head home.

Lol, somebody's feeling goofy tonight.

Soul mates, definitely.

Hard at work on his next novel. He's slowly getting better and his books are becoming worth more.

And back to the park for Natalie!

Natalie: Yay this is fun!

Natalie: Woah, this is really tall. Oh hey, I can see my house from here!

This other kid, Liam (sp?) joined her.

Natalie: Bad guys! Straight ahead!

Liam: Don't worry, I'll get 'em!

Nikki: Who's my sweet baby? It's almost your birthday and soon you'll be able to feed and dress yourself and Mommy can have a break!

Yay, finally, a good painting! She's starting to make some decent money by selling her work.

Birthday time for the twins! Sorry for the lack of proper birthday sparkle pictures.

Nadine! Her trait is Outgoing and her childhood Aspiration is Social Butterfly.

And her sister, Nicole. Nicole's trait is Loves the Outdoors and her Aspiration is Artistic Prodigy. All three girls look just like their mother, Nathan's genes are not very present here. Sorry dude.

Redecorated the twins' bedroom now that they're no longer infants. The Carnes' house is slowly but surely expanding from the little two-room box they started with!

He needed a break from writing his books so he sat down and brought up Sims on his computer. Zarqa approves!

With their family growing, the Carnes splurged on a nice new table and chairs set.

Nicole: When I grow up I want to be a famous painter!

Nikki: Yeah?

Nicole: Yeah and I want to paint beautiful pictures of ponies that will hang in museums and galleries.

Nikki: That sounds like a wonderful plan honey. Keep practicing and I'm sure you'll get there.

They found another one of those MySim or whatever dolls. Apparently you can enable emotional auras for them, which, Id on'

Nathan sat down to work on a book, turned the computer on, and was promptly met with the BSOD

Nathan: NOOOOOO!

Nikki: Seriously, why am I always cleaning up after all of you? You're old enough to clean you're own damn dishes!

Just because you have three kids and jobs and bills doesn't mean the romance has to be gone! Looks like we know who wears the pants in this relationship.

Nicole: Eww, gross! Get a room you two *stares intently at TV in an effort to ignore her parents*

...Okay then. Well, I guess even children can stay in shape.

Nikki needed some inspiration for her own art so, when the kids were in school and her husband was a to work, she went down to the Willow Creek Museum.

Random guy: So, what do you think of the painting?

Nikki: It's okay, not really my style though.

Nikki: Hmm, interesting style there

Aww, what's wrong baby? As you can see, having three kids has taken its toll on Nikki's body and she's put on some weight (this has nothing to do with why she's sad, btw).

Nikki: Hey, could I get some nachos please?

Bartender: Coming right up.

Nothing like eating your feelings.

Random chick: Mmm, that smells good!

The bartender left, leaving Nikki stuck with making her own drink.

Nikki: How hard could it be, right? I can do this!

Nikki: I can't do this D:

Nikki: Okay, here goes nothing...

Nikki: ....well...it could be worse.

She's in a much better mood now. A little food and a stiff drink works wonders on a girl's mood!

Nathan: Hi big pink teddy bear! How was your day?

He is such a child!

It's Liam coming to visit!

Unfortunately for Liam, Natalie came home from school in a horrible mood so he wisely chose not to stick around. Smart move man, smart move. Still, it appears that Natalie may have made a BFF. This could be promising for the future!

Nikki: So, your birthday's coming up soon.

Nathan: ...yeah.

Nikki: Anything special you want for your birthday? We have some extra money now.

Nathan: All I want for my birthday is for you to cook me an awesome cake!

Nikki: You sure? You don't want anything else?

Nathan: Nope! Just a yummy birthday cake!

Nikki: Okay, I can definitely do that! I've never made a cake before so I can't promise it'll taste good but I'll try!

Nathan: Oh don't worry, everything you cook is amazing!

Nikki: Thanks dear.

The little inspiring artist got her own drawing table. Though she currently has to draw outside since right now their house has no room for the table.
